How do I install and activate my new TPMS sensors?
Once installed, the sensors need to be recognized by your vehicle through a process called relearn. This ensures that the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) can detect and communicate with the new sensors.
There are three types of relearn procedures, depending on your vehicle:
- Stationary: Requires an activation tool while the vehicle is in relearn mode. Used by about 25% of vehicles.
- Automatic: The easiest and most common method. The vehicle will automatically detect the sensors after a short period of driving.
- OBD: Used by over 35% of vehicles, this method requires a TPMS tool plugged into the vehicle’s OBDII port.
We recommend checking your vehicle manual or consulting your mechanic or dealership for the correct procedure.
