Can we ever talk enough about electric vehicles? It seems that every month, a new manufacturer decides to turn to this booming market or launch a new EV product. At the Electrify Expo at the end of last month, Bridgestone unveiled the future of its Turanza range, as embodied by the all-new Turanza EV, specially designed for top-of-the-range zero-emission vehicles.

Whether Ford Mustang Mach-E or Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model X or Model Y, all the major players in the category are catered for by the new tire model. Developed specifically for the North American lifestyle, it's designed to deliver a more efficient experience, for longer. What sets it apart from the rest of the Turanza range? According to the manufacturer, almost everything!

The Turanza EV: filled with technology

To meet the needs of electric vehicles, Bridgestone decided to create its first replacement tire in North America to make use of ENLITEN technology. From the structure to the rubber, this technology promises to increase the longevity of EV tires while continuing to reduce rolling resistance. According to Bridgestone, this new technology offers a pleasant, stable ride and reduced wear.

New to the ENLITEN range, PeakLife polymer will also make its debut on the all-new Turanza EV. Developed at the company's research center in Akron, Ohio, it significantly limits tire wear by creating a stronger set of bonds between the particles in the rubber. As electric cars are heavier than their combustion cousins, partly due to the weight of the batteries, they tend to wear out their tires more quickly. PeakLife will without a doubt help them to last longer.

Even more recycled materials

As well as being an economic advantage for the consumer, extending tire life is also an ecological choice. Ecology is one of Bridgestone's eight core values, which guide the company in the development of new products. This is undoubtedly why it has decided to incorporate 50% renewable and recycled materials in the composition of its Turanza EV tires.

In fact, the company has tried to find alternative, more environmentally-friendly sources for its materials, from silica to rubber. It uses, for example, rice husks for its sicile, as well as renewable soybean oil and carbon black made from recycled tires. By 2050, the company promises that this proportion will rise to 100% as it enters a new era of tire manufacturing. In the meantime, the Turanza range already offers some interesting choices, such as the QuietTrack or the Serenity Plus, but you'll have to wait a while before you can find the EV model on Blackcircles.ca!
