On July 25, two true adventurers embarked on the journey of a lifetime from St. John's, Newfoundland, as part of the first-ever Volkswagen ID.4 Canada Tour challenge. In less than a week, professional driver Rainer Zietlow and photographer Elric Popp arrived in Victoria, British Columbia, setting a new Guinness World Record for the fewest charging stops for an electric vehicle across Canada. Luckily, the duo and their ID.4 could count on the support of Hankook's new high-performance EV tires, the iON evo AS!

Perfectly suited to EVs

To accomplish their feat, they needed tires capable of meeting the specific needs of electric vehicles. For example, they weigh more on average than a combustion vehicle, mainly because of their batteries. Energy saving, although also very useful for saving fuel, is particularly important for electric vehicles. Indeed, too much rolling resistance can have a negative impact on range. On a trip as long as Zietlow and Popp's, the effect on the number of stops can be considerable!

The iON evo AS is equipped with a number of exclusive technologies that enable it to support EVs despite their particular needs. These include EV Contour technology, designed to increase lateral and cornering stiffness to better support heavy vehicles. For a more comfortable ride, Hankook has also incorporated iSound Absorber, which greatly reduces the transmission of vibrations to the passenger compartment. The rubber itself has been designed with EVs in mind, with a high concentration of silica. This is what enables the tire to improve battery life, while making driving more enjoyable.

What's new at Hankook?

Obviously, not all vehicles require tires like the Hankook iON evo AS, but whatever your model, there should be a Hankook to suit your needs. The Korean company offers a wide range of summer, winter and all-season tires. Dynapro HP3 RA33s, for example, are perfect for gasoline-powered luxury SUVs, while sedans and other cars will no doubt be more at ease equipped with Kinergy GT H436s. Off-road and thrill-seeking fans, meanwhile, may prefer the Dynapro MT RT03, renowned for its incredible longevity and robustness. Either way, you'll benefit from the same Korean expertise that we hope will make your journeys more comfortable!
