BF Goodrich's tires around the world in a Nissan?

The people at Nissan are obviously ready to do anything to demonstrate their brand new electric SUV, the Ariya, even to go around the world. No, it's not an exaggeration, the Japanese company has decided to organize one of the biggest road-trips in history. Over 27,000 kilometers, their new vehicle will travel the entire Earth, from the North Pole to the South Pole.

The best part? They will be equipped with 39-inch BF Goodrich tires to withstand anything! Arctic Truck modified the Ariya for the specific needs of the explorers on board and chose to trust these good old American tires for the adventure. Just goes to show that our climate is sometimes quite polar!

A 100% electric road-trip

This is not the first time that Nissan has done something crazy with drivers Chris and Julie Ramsey to promote their EVs. In 2017, the couple had driven more than 16,000 kilometers in a Nissan LEAF across Mongolia. To achieve such feats, you can't choose a basic model! If the Ariya promises to be an efficient and robust SUV, Artic Truck still had a lot of work to do to prepare it.

The suspension, for example, has been redesigned and 39-inch tires have been added, which is quite an impressive size. Why such big tires? Simply because they provide better traction and stability. When you're traveling across several continents, that's the least you can do! Surprisingly enough, the company has not touched the original engine, battery or the e-4ORCE integral gearing. So we can expect 389 horsepower, but we can't predict the real range for the moment.

Crossing the planet through technology

It must be said that Arctic Truck didn't stop at mechanics. Its engineers pushed the envelope to a level that I must admit is a bit surprising, but appropriate for the trip in question. Since Chris loves coffee, the modified Ariya has an espresso machine in addition to a drone launch pad on the roof. Of course, to avoid unpleasant surprises, the pilots were also equipped with emergency charging systems with solar panels and wind turbine.

With all this attention to detail, it's easy to see why Nissan turned to BF Goodrich tires. Indeed, we've seen proof of the effectiveness of the American tire giant's technology on several occasions, such as with the amazing All Terrain T/A KO2. And, if you were wondering, yes, they are available in a 39-inch version on Blackcircles.ca!
