Hankook iON: back, again, in electric mode!

Truly, it seems that electric tires are in fashion. Just a few weeks after Pirelli unveiled a new model for EVs, Hankook presents a new family of tires for this category! The Korean company has just announced its exclusive iON line. One of the models, the Hankook Ventus iON A, will even be offered on the North American market.

Race-inspired technology

This may be the company’s first family of consumer tires, but this isn’t their first EV tire! Famous automotive names like Audi, BMW and Porsche are already using Hankook models designed specifically for electric mobility. In concrete terms, this often means greater robustness with greatly reduced rolling resistance.

Why stronger tires? Well, simply because electric vehicles are on average much heavier because of their batteries. For the Hankook Ventus iON A, Hankook added ultra-strong aramid fibers to allow the tires to resist deformation. With their often more powerful torque, electric motors can be particularly difficult on tires!

Finally, if manufacturers are always trying to reduce rolling resistance, it is mainly to increase the range. It’s a simple matter of physics: the less resistance the tire experiences, the less energy it needs to move forward. The result is a battery that lasts longer simply by choosing the right tire!

In Europe: Hankook Ventus iON S

The European continent will also have its own model from the new lineup. The Ventus iON S will be available for the summer season. A winter version will also be available from September 2022, the Hankook Winter i*cept iON. These two models will have the same advantages as the American model, while being better adapted to the needs of the European market.

No matter where in the world you are, however, you will be able to take advantage of the innovative technology used in the manufacturing of the tread. Its high ratio of natural resin makes it even more resistant to wear. Its design, coupled with the Sound Absorber system, minimizes the sound on the road, for an even more comfortable ride.

Luckily for Hankook tire fans, they’re just in time for summer! From May 2022, they will be available on our continent and, who knows, maybe also on Blackcircles.ca
