The choice of tires for a sport utility vehicle is important. When a manufacturer decides to buy specific tires for a given model, it is based on well-established criteria. This is what Ford has done by choosing Hankook Tire to supply the tires of its large sport utility vehicle, the Ford Explorer.

In fact, Ford’s choice is precise: Hankook Tire will supply original equipment tires to the Ford Explorer 2020 with Hankook’s Kinergy GT all-season touring tire. The Kinergy GT will be available in size 255 / 65R18

The Kinergy GT’s low-tread profile and tread help complete and improve the SUV’s fuel economy rating. In addition, the Kinergy GT’s four-channel design, combined with an optimized lateral groove layout, provides outstanding wet grip and snowy driving conditions, Hankook said in a press release.

The company added that the tire’s highly adherent silica compounds, a multi-layered carcass, and seamless and complementary reinforcement belts all contribute to a smooth ride, whether on or off-road.

This is not the first time that Hankook is chosen by Ford to be the manufacturer of original tires on a vehicle. The company also supplies tires to the Ford F-150 and Ford Ranger, according to the specifications required by the manufacturer.

Small detail that is important. According to a study conducted in the United States, more than 60% of vehicle buyers remain loyal to the original brand when it comes to replacing tires on their vehicles. It is easy to understand the eagerness of tire manufacturers to offer suitable tires to automakers.
