Hit the track with the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD09

When you think of Yokohama ultra-high performance tires, you automatically think of the ADVAN line, a classic in its category for a few years now. Inspired by motorsports, it is adapted for both track and road use, or at least so are we told. A few months ago, last July (yes, summer went by this quickly), the Japanese company released a new generation of its ADVAN, the Neova AD09

Replacing its predecessor, the Neova AD08R, the new model is quite impressive, as you will see. I agree that opportunities to drive vehicles capable of taking full advantage of the ADVAN’s capabilities are rare, but don’t we all have the right to dream? Plus, this is the last time of the year when it’s worthwhile to buy sports tires…

What’s new for the Neova AD09?

It’s hard to believe that tire design can still be significantly innovated after more than 100 years of evolution, yet astonishingly manufacturers continue to do so. The next version of the Neova has been updated on several levels, both in its structure and its material. Of course, since this is a specialized model for sports cars, the focus has been on the handling and the responsiveness of the tire, but the result is still worth it.

The Neova AD09 has a new tread pattern that increases the friction surface for better handling. The entire tire has also been reinforced right down to its center, among other things to ensure greater precision when cornering. The new high-silica tread compound also provides better handling in the wet and improved grip. All these aspects are nice on the road, but vital on the track!

While we wait for our sports car…

As I said above, I highly doubt that most people would benefit from such a tire pattern. While it’s nice to read the spec sheet and marvel at the tires that can fit them, the reality is often quite different. Sports car owners, you can stop reading now and continue your visit here. For everyone else, however, here are some slightly more realistic suggestions!

Among the Yokohama lineup available on Blackcircles.ca, a few models stand out in my opinion. For almost any touring car, the Avid Ascend GT is a good choice. Outdoor enthusiasts or those with a pickup truck or large SUV might prefer a tire from the Geolandar line, why not the A/T G015? In any case, with Yokohama, it’s hard to go wrong!
