In the spotlight: Uniroyal

One of the oldest tire brands on our continent, if not in the world, Uniroyal continues to be a name recognized for its effective and affordable products. As the warm season approaches, and with it the tire-change date, I thought it might be a good idea to draw a portrait of a few well-known brands that deserve a bit of attention just the same. After all, just because you know a few products in a range doesn't mean you know all the latest innovations!

First, a little history. Founded in Connecticut in 1892 as the United States Rubber Company, the company manufactures a variety of rubber products, from soles to aircraft tires. After numerous partnerships and name changes, it was finally consolidated under the name Uniroyal in 1961. This marked the beginning of the company's golden age, symbolized by the mythical Tiger Paw, whose name (and reputation) endures to this day. Since the 90s, the brand has been a division of Michelin, but it continues to offer quality products, often at a lower price than its parent company.

Uniroyal Tiger Paw, as mythical as ever

As I mentioned, the Tiger Paw range still exists and continues to offer interesting quality products. The Tiger Paw GTZ A/S 2, for example, is one of the most versatile models, available in a variety of sizes and capable of adapting to many riding styles. Their 80,000-kilometer warranty, which is slightly less than that of some luxury products, is still fairly representative of their adequate longevity.

There are also winter tires in the Tiger Paw range, notably the Ice & Snow 3, probably among the most popular choices. Renowned for its grip and durability, it benefits from a number of interesting technologies such as self-locking 3D sipes on the tread. It's true that winter is now drawing to a close, but it's never too early to get ready for next year!

Tougher choices

Uniroyal also offers a number of specialized tires outside the Tiger Paw range. Sport driving enthusiasts, for example, can benefit from the ultra-high Power Paw A/S tires, created with the aim of achieving the perfect balance between dynamism, safety and comfort. Suitable for sports cars, they remain a rather economical choice, especially in their class.

For those who prefer adventure and off-roading, you may be better off with the Laredo Cross Country Tour, a robust product designed primarily for crossovers and SUVs. It's appreciated for its exclusive DuraShield construction, which guarantees longer life.
