Kumho Tire won the 2019 Good Design Award for two of its global models. The most important for the North American market is the PA51.
Established by Japan’s Industrial Design Promotion Organization (JIDPO), the Good Design Award is Japan’s most prestigious international design competition. With 62 years of history, the award boasts of a long tradition and worldwide recognition.
To earn the prize, participants must go through different events, including being evaluated on elements such as design, user-friendliness and innovative features.
The prize is awarded in five categories: products, space, media, systems and solutions. Kumho earned the top position in the subcategory of transportation equipment and industrial facilities. This is the new Ecsta PA51, a car tire, which allowed this ranking.
An all-season tire designed exclusively for North America, the recently launched Ecsta PA51 offers both sport and comfort features. Its side looks like a racing flag to create a dynamic appearance.
The asymmetric tread pattern of the tire ensures water dispersion in four different directions for more efficient water removal and greater fuel economy. The grooves are also designed with different depths to reduce noise and improve grip.
