Recently, Pirelli and Lamborghini joined forces once again in a titanic alliance to fit the new Urus SE, the automaker's first plug-in hybrid SUV. The four-tire range developed by the two Italian companies aims to create an unrivaled package in terms of performance and driving experience. Indeed, for a super-powered vehicle like this new Lamborghini here, you need tires that can hold their own!
The development process was particularly rigorous, with tests carried out on the legendary Nardò circuit in Italy. To give you an idea of the caliber of the Urus, we're told that speeds in excess of 300 km/h were reached! Pirelli also carried out tests in the extreme conditions of the Arctic Circle, with temperatures as low as -30°. This battery of tests are supposedly imperative to make sure whether or not the Pirelli tires can meet the demands of the Urus SE in all types of environment.
Three P Zeros for the Urus
Available in three sizes - 21", 22" and 23" - the new P Zero has been specifically chosen to suit different driving styles and preferences. The 21-inch tire, for example, offers a quieter, smoother driving experience. On the other side of the spectrum, the 23-inch version is more for high-performance, offering superior grip, responsiveness and precision handling. Manufactured using advanced materials and construction techniques, all P Zero models guarantee optimum durability and safety, which is particularly important for a 789-hp vehicle.
In winter, the Scorpion Winter 2
Even in the cold season, the new Lamborghini SUV is ready to impress. Indeed, the two companies have turned to the Scorpion Winter 2, which has been designed to excel in harsh winter conditions, thanks to its 3D tread and specialized compound for exceptional traction and safety.
This is not the first time that Pirelli has been involved in the development of the Urus. In the past, the company has provided a variety of options to suit the different Urus models developed over the years, from the high-performance 22-inch P Zero Corsa for summer to all-season variants like the 22-inch Scorpion Zero All Season. It's important to remember, however, that this is the first time Lamborghini has produced a plug-in hybrid version of its super-SUV, which brings its own set of new challenges.
The good news is that you don't have to buy a Lamborghini to take advantage of these Pirelli tires, since they're more or less the same models you'll find on the market. Whatever your vehicle, they'll undoubtedly enhance your experience... but they won't make you reach 789 horsepower!
