Pirelli ZERO HL, strength now comes in electric

2 minute read

For all the big players in the tire world, it is clear that the future is electric, and Pirelli is no exception. This past July 15, we were able to learn a little more about the Italian manufacturer’s vision for the future with the unveiling of the P ZERO HL (or “High-Load”), designed for electric cars. Designed to maximize the load index, they are capable of carrying up to 20% more weight than a standard tire!

It must be said that electric cars have very different needs than conventional gasoline vehicles. The additional weight of the battery can be a problem when using inadequate tires. With the P ZERO HL, Pirelli is targeting the high range electric market, where the multiple additional energy reserves add to the mass of the car.

 A partnership with Lucid Motors

The first model to benefit from the new Pirelli will not come from the factories of a conventional manufacturer. Rather, it will be the Lucid Air, a 100% electric sedan first introduced in 2016 by Lucid Motors. Developed in conjunction with the car company, the P ZERO HL were perfectly tailored to the requirements of the Air. Although they are perfect for all electric vehicles.

For an even more comfortable ride, Pirelli has focused on noise reduction and stability, including PNCS sound isolation technology. In addition, thanks to their improved tread compound, they offer very low rolling resistance. It maintains exemplary traction and responsiveness on all types of road surfaces.

This responsiveness is very important when driving an electric model, as the transmission torque changes almost instantly. Their low resistance allows for a much better conservation of energy, which translates into a marked increase in range! As for its high load index, the secret lies in its structure. This is what makes the P ZERO HL capable of supporting between 6% and 9% more weight than all its competitors.

Whether you own a 100% electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicle or are simply concerned about your fuel consumption, stay tuned for the launch of the Pirelli P ZERO HL on blackcircles.ca! Their surprising strength will take you even further…
