Our journey west continues this week in the middle of Canada, in Saskatchewan to be more precise. As we enter the least densely populated province, Blackcircles.ca invites you to breathe the fresh prairie air: the road will be long, so take the time to enjoy it! Of course, this part of the country will delight outdoor enthusiasts, but not only! A short trip to the capital will be fun for the architects as well as refined palates!
See the bison in Grasslands National Park
The first thing you think of when you imagine this part of the country is a vast area of yellowed grass dotted with herds of wild bison. If the urban centers and green nature of the northern part of the province prove that this is not all Saskatchewan has to offer, you owe it to yourself to see this unique landscape! In the southern part of the province, Grasslands National Park offers breathtaking views of Canada’s great outdoors and exciting opportunities for nature lovers. In addition to bison, be sure to photograph eagles, antelope and cute prairie dogs! The evening sky there is truly unforgettable…
Cuisine and Architecture in Regina
As with all the other provinces on our trip, a stop in the capital is a must. The charming city of Regina offers a stopover of history and culture between two activities in nature. We invite you to explore the city on foot, whether it’s through the downtown core or the trails of Wascana Centre, one of the world’s largest urban parks. Nearby, you’ll find the beautiful Saskatchewan Legislative Building or, for the young ones, the interactive Science Centre. Finish your long day of sightseeing with a meal at Memories, considered one of the best restaurants in town.
As you’ve seen, Regina’s urban life is perfect for owners of electric cars or plug-in hybrids who need to pay attention to their range to avoid unpleasant surprises! To maximize the fuel efficiency of such models, nothing beats tires specifically designed to reduce resistance like the Dunlop Enasave.
The Churchill River Rapids
As you head north into Saskatchewan, the landscape changes rapidly from open country to urban areas, then from cities to forest wilderness. Past the city of Prince Albert and the beautiful national park of the same name, it’s still several hundred kilometers to our final destination: the Churchill River. The former waterway is now a landmark for nature and thrill seekers. This must-see stop is one of the best places to see Canadian wildlife, and is a popular stop for paddlers and fishermen.
Many will tell you that the experience is worth it, but you have to understand that the Churchill River is quite a distance from our previous destination. In fact, from Regina, you’ll have to travel over 700 kilometers of mostly forested roads before you can finally do some rafting! In addition to having sturdy tires, like the Wrangler Duratrac, make sure you always have one in the spare compartment! It might save you from a flat tire in the middle of the woods…
Now that you’ve had your fill of fresh air, it’s time to continue west for our penultimate destination. Where exactly? At this point in the adventure, I think you can easily guess!
