As you know, at Blackcircles, tires are our passion. We appreciate design, we look at quality, we admire engineering. But for most people, a tire remains a simple black rubber circle, more utilitarian than cute. This may well change though, if more manufacturers do like Lexus and use the services of a fashion designer to create unique tires for their vehicle.
To underline the unveiling of its small city utility, the Lexus UX, the Japanese manufacturer has used the services of designer John Elliott. The artist was able to create “Sole of UX” tires, designer tires inspired by Elliott’s Nike AF1 shoes.
The tires rethink the classic silhouette of Elliott’s shoe, embodying the spirit of sleek, modern and refined design. Tires that, like the crossover itself, are inspired and designed for the city.
As part of the New York Fashion Week, Elliott and Lexus unveiled these tires with a totally different look. Under a white Lexus, John Elliott had installed personalized wheels with white-on-white layers, double-stitched leather and a unique style metal air valve.
These unique and unmarketed tires were installed on the urban crossover UX, a vehicle designed for the city and the “modern urban explorer” – those seeking a new, contemporary and dynamic approach to driving the city.
The tires are certainly spectacular, but the jury still deliberates to decide if they are really worth the detour!
