Yokohama invites you to play outside!

The year 2020 has certainly been a time of change for most of us, but thankfully, Yokohama Canada is here to remind us of what really matters! In fact, the manufacturer’s latest advertising campaign aims to make us aware that the current situation does not prevent us from exploring! Winter is the perfect season to hit the road and discover new opportunities. You just have to be careful and, preferably, with good quality tires! At least that’s what the three capsules published at the end of November tell us.

How to get on the road without being on thin ice

For obvious reasons, vacations will have to be enjoyed a little differently in this winter season. Rather than flying to sunny destinations, Yokohama invites you to discover or rediscover your own region.  After all, the cold season is perfect for certain activities! For example, have you ever taken an ice driving course or driven to a remote location for cross-country skiing? As the tire company reminds us, life’s little pleasures are in the simple things, like driving around on a January afternoon.

However, to do this, you have to know how to do it! Of course, vigilance on the road and extra caution is always required on slippery roads. However, it would be dangerous to rely on them 100%. After all, even the best drivers can sometimes underestimate their braking distance on ice. Therefore, prevention is better than cure. Luckily, it is easy to take certain safety measures before you even set off!

 Minimizing risks, maximizing fun

In its “Staying Safe” capsule, Yokohama reminds us that, in the automotive world, safety and respect for others has always been a priority. This is especially true in winter, when road conditions and sometimes reduced visibility are conducive to accidents. During this period, it is worthwhile to adopt a few simple habits that could save you a lot of worries!

The reason why we keep coming back to the importance of winter tires (see our articles here and here) is because we can never talk about it enough. Even though the deadline in Quebec for tire changes is December 1st, it’s better to do it before that! As soon as the first signs of sub-zero temperatures appear, remember to make an appointment, because your summer tires will already start to lose their efficiency.

This is because the rubber in winter tires is designed to be softer and therefore more adherent in cold weather. Temperature changes throughout the winter season can weaken the rubber. So be sure to regularly inspect the rubber in your tires. While this is a good tip all year round, salt and ice make winter even more damaging.

The holiday season is just around the corner, and this year Yokohama invites you to celebrate it in a different and, most importantly, safe way. By applying these tips, you can enjoy your region while protecting your loved ones!
